Dog Agility Quiz - Answer key
American Kennel Club (AKC) Agility FAST Rules

1) AKC has a new class called F.A.S.T. What does FAST stand for?

C) Fifteen And Send Time

Fifteen and Send Time Class uses fifteen (15) point valued obstacles and/or obstacle combinations. The course will include a ‘Send Bonus’ or distance element. Teams will use a Standard Course Time (SCT) to accumulate points, attempt a Send Bonus and to reach a judge-defined finish obstacle.

2) You have one allotment of time to accumulate points and complete the Send. You have to complete the Send…

D) Before the buzzer sound

An electronic timing horn/buzzer (preferably) or whistle will sound at SCT completion, whereby handlers will no longer have the right to earn points while on course.

3) There is a maximum of 80 points possible on every FAST course. You need how many points to qualify in each level?

C) Novice 50, Open 55, Excellent 60

The minimum score to qualify in Novice = 50 points, Open = 55 points, Excellent= 60 points.  All levels must include 20 points from the Send Bonus, so when accumulating points you only need 30 points for Novice, 35 points for Open and 40 points for Excellent.

4) For the Send the handler needs to stay behind a handler restriction line.  What is the maximum distance expected for each level?

A)Novice 10 feet, Open 15 feet, Excellent 20 feet

Handler distance restrictions for the Send Bonus portion must be; 15-20 feet in  Excellent, 10-15 feet in Open, and 5- 10 feet in Novice.

5) You are on course and hear a double whistle from the judge. You should ..

C)Take your dog over the finish obstacle

Once all points available have been accumulated on contacts and weaves they may
not be taken again. Teams that repeat these obstacles after all their available points are awarded will be whistled to the finish line but will maintain the accumulated points. You
will not earn any more points but you could still qualify as long as you completed the bonus successfully and have enough points. If your dog never takes the finish obstacle, you will not qualify.
